The Vassar Haiti Project played a fundamental role in shaping my undergraduate learning experience. VHP provided an interactive and cooperative space outside of the classroom, which allowed students to apply their diverse interests to helping others. With Lila and Andrew's guidance, and the support of a network of peers, VHP shows students that they have the power to change the world and gives them the tools to do so. For me, the greatest thing about VHP was the community, which spans Vassar’s campus, Haiti, and contains individuals from around the world. This community fosters new ideas and inspires novel solutions to address global inequalities. My decision to work for a non-profit foundation after I graduated was greatly impacted by VHP’s role in the healthcare community. In particular, VHP instilled a desire to address health equity in our communities and healthcare systems. As my post-grad life progresses, I will carry the tools that VHP gave me: creativity, communication, and community engagement.
