VHP was a large part of my experience at Vassar and has impacted my future career choices. One of my career paths is to attend grad school for an MD/MPH. I have always wanted to be a doctor, but through VHP I was exposed to more aspects of the health field such as global and public health. Through being women’s health director at VHP I gained an interest in both women and children’s health specifically in underserved areas, whether in the U.S. or internationally like Haiti. Through obtaining an MD/MPH, I hope to work to better the healthcare provided to women and children in underserved areas as many are lacking basic care, from prenatal care to vaccines. These preventative measures provide healthier lives which enable a community to grow emotionally, financially and dream for a bright future.
